DANY CARNASSALE

Dany Carnassale graduated in Cultural Anthropology at University of Bologna and obtained an interdisciplinary PhD in Social Sciences from University of Padova. He is currently adjunct professor of Cultural Anthropology at University of Padova and Postdoctoral Reserch Fellow at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in the framework of the Horizon2020 research project “VULNER” (2020-2023), coordinated by the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle (Germany). In this project, he carried out an ethnography of institutional and supporting practices concerning migrants seeking protection in Italy for reasons related to various kinds and situations of vulnerability. Since 2010, he is active in the field of migrations and asylum as etnographer, activist, socio-legal operator and consultant for local NGOs and international organizations, especially on topics related to SOGIESC-based asylum claims and the construction of non-heteronormative genders and sexualities of people living or coming from West Africa.
